MEETINGS TO CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

Thanks to everyone who attended our first meeting last week. Our meetings will continue to be held every tuesday at meeting rooms 1&2 of the student union building.

Next week's meeting will be a hands on climbing presentation done by Tom and Mikey and a follow-up on freshers. Afterwards, you are all welcome to head down with us to fidels for dessert, coffee or a pint of beer!

Welcome to the start of the university year and the exciting beginning of our tramping and climbing year. We have a fantastic line up of great tramping, climbing, social and fun events for all. The club caters to all levels from the beginner to advanced ranging from easy social things to go hard or go home things so check out our calendar to find out what is going on

First meeting

First big meeting for the year is on Tuesday 9 March (next Tuesday) where you can come along, learn about the club and sign up.

We have prizes to give away for those people who sign up before the meeting and we will be drawing these prizes at the meeting. Sign ups will open at 7:00pm but will close at 7:30pm before the meeting. The prizes will be drawn in the meeting so make sure if you have signed up already be there. If you don’t make it in time, dont worry we will have signups after the meeting too!

First trip

Our first trip of the tramping year is Freshers on the weekend 12^th – 14^th March it is an easy social trip and is a great way to go tramping, meet people. We will have more information at the meeting and will be putting a post up under club forums.

The new year is upon us and another great tramping, climbing adventure year is ahead of us. While the club is in a more causal summer mode but there are piles of trips going on and with fun interesting things happening such as climbing, tramping, biking, BBQ’s, parties and drinking. So if you are keen for stuff keep an eye on the club forums and come along to the club meetings to see what is brewing. The club will of course be kicking into full steam in March when uni is back and we will be meeting back up at the uni with a couple of organised trips going away every weekend.

Meetings

Our usual summer meeting place is the Welsh dragon bar on Kent and Cambridge terrace. But seeing as it is supposed to be summer we are having a January BBQ series. So for the rest of the month there will be a BBQ at someone’s house or flat starting from 6:30pm on tuesday nights. All you need to do is bring yourself, something to BBQ or eat and some beverages to drink. If you haven’t been along to the club before it is a great chance to meet some people and hopefully enjoy some summer. There should be people driving from town each week and this will be posted on the website

Next week: The BBQ will be at Jeremy's– It is in Karori somewhere, in fact at 4 Natalie Way, Karori see post for details on how to get there.

Hey Munters!

It's summer again and this means we get our bums kicked out of the union buildings. So what else is there to do when you get kicked out on your bum? Go to the pub of course! Yes, it's that time of year again where we will be having our meetings at the Welsh Dragon, on the middle of Cambridge Terrace & Kent Terrace. It is a great, cozy little pub with their fair share of decent beers. And, for all you paupers, there is plenty of free water on tap.

The most important meeting of the year!! AGM

The meeting this week is the most important meeting of the year. It is our Annual General Meeting. This is where we elect a new committee to take our club into the next year. So make sure that you come along and bring anyone you think should be there.

Have a think about what you would like to do, or who you think would be suitable for a position. Have a look at this for some details

Hi all,

Firstly I want to say that a lot of you owe me trip reports... Yes you know who you are. All of you that took my chocolate and never wrote me a teeny little trip report. Please get on to it or I will start thinking up embarrassing consequences and believe me you will regret making a fool of me and abusing my trust :)

On to more interesting issues tonights meeting is going to be a super happy fun time. I have an activity planned which should result in more than just a few laughs so don't miss out.

Hi all,

This week and probably again in another two weeks we'll be designed the club t-shirts. Every year the club comes up with a t-shirt design which we'll get made up and members can then buy from the club.

Mid Winter Christmas

Hi all,

Mid winter Chrismas is on this weekend. This is a social trip with good food and good company. The walk itself is fairly short and not too difficult so we've got all the ingrediants for a pretty good weekend for most of you. Come along tonight to hear more and get in touch with Andrew the social convenor. Details are on the Committee page.

Tonight we'll have a brief look at some basic tramping gear so you get a feel for whats out there and what you should be bringing with you.

Second Semester

Hi all,

Second semester is upon us. We'll be meeting back at the University in the Student Union building this week.

I'm running a trip or two or three (depending on numbers) into the Rimutakas this weekend. It's just a day trip and we'll choose the day depending on the weather. Ideally we'll have a couple of easier options and then I'll be leading a fitter group to Mt Matthews and back.
