The last meeting for the year is tonight (Tuesday 16th December) since the majority of us have other plans for next week. There is no date set for the first meeting next year but I suspect this will be mid January when people start arriving back in Wellington. I'm away until February so one of the other committee members will put up a post and let you all know when things get moving again.
I wish you all a happy and safe holiday season. Enjoy yourselves, enjoy the good weather, enjoy our stunning outdoors and I look forward to hearing about all your crazy adventures when I return.

Hi all, Always stuck trying to find some paper, or wondering what information you need to collect from your punters? Falter no more because I've just put up a super duper new trip signup form here. I've added a link to it under the Quicklinks heading on the top right hand side of the site. Don't feel like you have to use it, but it would be really good to get them in play when next years crowd shows up. I'll try to bring along plenty to each meeting. Would be great to get some feedback on it. Is it missing anything? Should anything be changed? etc etc...

I've been made aware that some people are having trouble with the email alerts sent out from the website follow news items, new forums, or new postings to a forum. Without having a look around in the account of someone who is having trouble I can recommend you check the following things: 1) http://vuwtc.org.nz/cs/user/EditProfile.aspx - Make sure "Recieve Emails" and "Enable email notifications..." are both set to YES and you have a valid email address in "Private Email"
2) http://vuwtc.org.nz/cs/blogs/vuwtc/emailsubscriptions.aspx - To recieve emails when someone adds a news item to the site set this to "new posts and articles only", if you want to also get an additional email each time someone comments on a news item then choose the bottom option. 3) http://vuwtc.org.nz/cs/forums/ForumSubscriptions.aspx - Make sure there is a check next to each forum that you wish to receive email updates for 4) For each forum there is a "More Options" button right at the bottom of the page. If you click this a box appears that has as its last option "Send Email". My understanding of how these options should work is that "new topics" will only give you an email for each new forum that is added. "new posts" should give you an email for each new forum, and each post that is made.

Greetings all. We're back at the Welsh Dragon this week for the Tuesday meeting. Come along, have a beer and plan some crazy good times for the coming summer. As always there is climbing on Wednesday from 5ish, a party or two this weekend, and keep an eye on the site over the next few days for details of any trips.

Hi Everyone,
From now until the new university year we'll be meeting at the Welsh Dragon pub at the top of Courtney Place near the Embassy theatre on Tuesday nights from 7.30pm to enjoy a few beers, catch up and plan some holiday adventures!
So come along tomorrow night to find out about possible tramps and mountain trips this weekend and scheme more for later.
Remember also that there will not be a regular meeting next Tuesday (21) because we have our annual Last Supper dinner, see the post about this here
Cheers,
Alyn

Hey people,
just to add another election to your already election-filled lives: this Tuesday is the tramping club AGM (Annual General Meeting), where we elect the committee for the coming year!
This is happening tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7.30pm in Meeting Rooms 1 & 2 of the Student Union Building.
More interesting than the US elections, more relevant than ours and with (probably) a higher voter turnout than the VUWSA elections, this will certainly be one you cannot miss! And in case you need any other reasons, there will be free pizza from 6.30pm.
Details on positions available can be found here (from last year) and also presented will be the Chief Guide's, President's and Treasurers' Reports on the year to date.
I would strongly encourage anyone who thinks they might be around next year to come along and help decide who is going to run your club.
Cheers,
Kieran

AGM – is the Annual General Meeting and it is this coming Tuesday! It is the single most important meeting of the year and it is where we decide who is going to run the club next year. So it is important if not essential for everyone to attend. To bribe people a bit more we will have FREE pizza!
See here for details

Hey hey,
just a reminder that the photo comp is tonight! From 7.30pm in meeting rooms 1 & 2 - so far we haven't had all that many entries, so please keep them coming... either email me photos before 5 or bring them along before the meeting on a usb stick, camera or something.
The tramping and rock climbing categories are particularly in need of some more entries. Chocolate, lollies and bottles of stuff are at stake so that should be motivation enough to make an effort. If you don't have photos enter someone elses and claim the chocolate as your own :)
The restriction of 5 photos each may be relaxed too, just so we get a few more.
Cheers,
Kieran

Hey just to let everyone know that Natalie is bringing along some photos tonight from her Antarctica trip last summer - should be interesting viewing, so come along! Meeting Rooms 1 & 2 of the Student Union Building, 7.30pm tonight.
Also if you want to give me photos for the photo comp next week I will have my laptop there, so you can put them straight on rather than mucking round with email...
Cheers,
Kieran

Hey everyone,
as I've mentioned at the last couple of meetings its almost time for our annual photo competition! This will be held at next Tuesday's meeting (30 September), with plenty of good viewing, prizes and prestige to be gained!
Please submit entries to me (at patonomatic@gmail.com) by this Friday, maximum of 5 per person. Also please state which of the following categories you wish to submit your photo(s) in:
- Tramping
- Alpine activities
- Rock climbing
- Nature
- People doing crazy/stupid/embarassing things (ie humour)
For the purposes of identification and organising, it would be helpful if you renamed the photos to include your name and a (very) brief description.
Cheers,
Kieran

Hey guys,
Meetings are back up at uni now that the holidays are over - so come along tomorrow night to hear what people have been getting up to in the holidays, and bring some stories/photos of your own adventures to share!
Also find out about all the exciting things happening this term, including a gourmet trip to Burn Hut in the Tararuas this weekend, a cross dressing crossing of the Tararuas and more snow stuff! Also coming up will be the annual photo competition and not too far away in October the AGM (Annual General Meeting) where you get to elect who will be on the committee for next year.
So plenty of stuff happening, see yous tomorrow night!

Hey everyone,
Just a reminder that its uni holidays now and we'll be meeting at the pub for the next two weeks instead of up at uni. So come along to the Welsh Dragon Bar (end of courtney place near Embassy) from 7.30pm this Tuesday and next to enjoy a few beers, catch up and plan some holiday adventures!
Sounds like theres plenty of scheming about ski trips (once they've unburied the lifts up there anyway) and other plans to climb mountains, tramp... there's no official club trip down for this weekend, but if you want to do something then come along and convince people to come with you :)
Cheers,
Kieran
