Meetings at the "Welsh Dragon" over Uni Holidays

Its school holidays so we will be meeting at the"Welsh Dragon" tomorrow night (Tuesday) from 7:30. It is less formal than our regular meetings and it is a good chance to tell a good yarn, have a laugh and sip your favorable brew or three.

It is located in the heart of Wellington between Cambrige Tce and Kent Tce. Below are the details to get there:

Keen to learn how to have fun in the snow? Sad that snowcaving was cancelled? This weekend we have a trip especially for you! It is the second Alpine Instruction Course weekend and we expect it to be more fun than you can shake an iceaxe (snowstake, icehammer, shovel etc) at. Check out the details that Tom has posted on the forum under Club Trips and get your name down on the signup form. Then sit back and make a small offering to the mountain spirits for good weather...

Do you feeling lucky? Well do ya, punk?

As a way to throw off the mid-winter blues and celebrate the most unlucky day of the year, the Tramping club is throwing a party! So if you're looking to warm up, chill out and get down then pop on over and join us.

Where: Bryan's place - 370 Tinakori Rd, Throndon. Click here for a map. Just grab the number 3 bus and jump off at the Botanic Garden, its the place next the dentists.
When: Friday the 13th (oohhhh!) - 8pm onwards
Why: Cause parties are awesome!
Details: BYO, dress as something unlucky if you can be bothered (you know, like a broken mirror or a black cat) but otherwise no theme, just good times.

Disclaimer - horseshoes, four leaf clovers and leprechauns not included. But clips of Dirty Harry are.

Hey all,

if you haven't yet signed up for the midwinter trip to Lewis Pass in July then you need to do so ASAP as we will be sorting out transport this week. Either email me at patonomatic@gmail.com or talk to me at the meeting tomorrow night (down at the Welsh Dragon again). See this post for more details.

Also for those interested in coming on our first Alpine Instruction Course (AIC) held on Mt Ruapehu at the end of this month please sign up here by next Tuesday. This trip is a great chance to pick up some vital skills for winter tramping and climbing, and is also a very social trip - especially since its the Ohakune Mardi Gras that weekend!

Finally if you're keen to come on Sarah's overnight daytrip to the Haurangis, I will have a sign up sheet at the meeting tomorrow night as Sarah can't make it.

Due to technical difficulties (a locked door) the presentation last week didn't occur so will actually happen tonight - it is a presentation on winter tramping, including details for AIC 1 (Alpine Instruction Course) and the 7 day mid-winter trip to Lewis Pass in the South Island.
