Cone Hut is of historical significance as a slab hut. It lies at the top end of the Tauherenikau river, 2-3hrs from Walls Whare.
Sleeps: About 8 or 10 on a platform.
Heating: Open fire.
Camping: Lots.
First time I have been in there for over 15yrs. I hunted that area for many years but no luck this time. It was great to get my Son Jason and his son Hunter in there with me after all this time.
Boy that was a long trip from the swing bridge to Cone Hut then back over the saddle down Totara flats track and back to the bridge, now at 65 the hills are getting steeper every year.
What a great country.
