Thursday, 17 October 2024 from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM
Organiser: Justin Atkinson
Get ready for some amazing views out over the Hutt valley! We'll be heading into the hills of Wainuiomata, with bonus playgrounds, gold mines, radio towers, water tanks, high bridges, and dodgy middle-of-nowhere tracks, what's not to love!
Meet inside the Wellington train station foyer at 5:30pm. From there we'll catch the Hutt Valley train to Waterloo train station. A 30-45min walk to the Te Whiti Riser track will follow (with a bonus playground and a gold mine!).
The walk to the peak of the hills will take about an hour, then we'll walk another 1-2hr to Wainuiomata Hill lookout (where you drive over into Wainuiomata and there's that footbridge overhead). From the lookout we'll walk towards the nearest bus stop, and get the 160/170 buses to Queensgate, then the 83 bus back to town (we'll get there about 11pm-12am). ALTERNATIVELY we can walk to the 83 bus stop on the Seaview coast, or even just get lost in the Hutt and never be seen again, it's Walkies so you never know ;)
Here's a very clear and unconfusing diagram for the night:
