Organiser: Connor Sheppard

So I am going to be in Northland around 3rd to 5th February. I would like to bag Motukawanui Hut, the most Northern Hut in NZ, on the 4th of February. Anyone is welcome to come!

2nd Feb will be driving up and stopping at either my family batch in Whanganui (free camping) or at zekes hut (2 hour walk from state highway 1, near tongariro national park)

On the 3rd February, I'll probably stay at Puketi Forest Hut, and the next day head to Waiiti Bay, aiming to kayak to Motukawanui Hut and back. We will then drive to Lane Cove Hut and camp there (depending on availability), which is the second most Northern Hut (and most northern that has a tramping track), or kayak there too.

Lane Cove Hut at edge of water.

There are some things to sort out before finalising the trip - such as where to find/hire/borrow a kayak, how many we need, accommodation both of the nights or longer etc depending on numbers, but looking forward to seeing how it goes! (In all honesty, I'm putting this on the calendar so it goes in HEELS, wasn't expecting anyone to come, but I could be underestimating that!).

If you're interested in coming - message or email me so we can arrange where to meet and other logistics for the trip like accommodation & kayaks. I probably can drive anyone from Welly to Northland, but possibly to Auckland after the trip (will discuss before & after plans in a PM).

TBD
