Somes Island
(to the tune of Gilligan’s Island Theme)

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
a tale of a fateful trip,
that started from this windy port,
aboard a ferry ship.
The leader was a mighty trampin' man,
the rest were brave and sure,
eighteen passengers set sail that day,
for a twenty four hour tour,
a twenty four hour tour.
The biosecurity room was getting rough,
Our tramping packs were tossed.
If not for the efforts of our fearless crew
The tents would all be lost.
The tents would all be lost.
The ship's aground on the shore of this
charted historic isle
with David,
the Ranger too.
The penguins and the sheep,
the fence to paint,
the tuataras and wood chipper,
here on Somes Island.
(Ending verse)
So this is the tale of our tramping crew,
they're here to volunteer.
They'll have to make the best of things,
it's an uphill climb.
The trampers and the Ranger too
will do their very best,
to make new visitors comfortable
in their subtropic island nest.
No beds, no oil, no warm water
Just a few luxuries
like tramping trips before them,
it's primitive as can be. (almost)
So join us here next year my friends,
you're sure to get a smile,
from eighteen stranded trampers
here on Somes Island!
